In 1995, Oasis went to Rockfield Studios in Wales to make the follow-up to Definitely Maybe. The band played big, loud and largely onto analogue tape.
Noel Gallagher arrived with a stack of songs that turned out to be almost absurdly strong: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova.
From a farm studio to stadiums
Rockfield is far from London and Manchester, but that is exactly where Oasis found its monumental sound. Guitar layers were stacked into a wall of noise and Liam Gallagher sang as if every song was already meant for tens of thousands of people.
The result was (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, the album that pushed the band from major British rock group to global phenomenon.
