For Jungle, The Blaze initially had far too much music.
Guillaume and Jonathan Alric said they had roughly fifty tracks: slow pieces, faster songs and material clearly built for large festival sets.
The hardest part was choosing
The two cousins do not see an album as a folder of separate tracks. They want it to tell a story. That meant a large part of those fifty ideas had to disappear.
That approach suits The Blaze because image and music have always been closely connected in their work. Their videos are built as carefully as the songs themselves: little explanation, lots of atmosphere and human moments that stay with you.
On Jungle, the music becomes more direct and danceable, but the melancholy remains. Fifty possible directions were reduced to one world.
